The Geodesy is a part of GeoSciences group as Geology and Geophysics. The use of Geodesy in practice is the determination of position. All geospatial information is based on the
geodetic position Therefore the practical geodesy is a part of Geomatics. The development of science and technology in Geodesy and Geomatics such as GPS technology, Remote
Sensing, GIS and the earth gravity model are modern tools that used for Oil &Gas Industry started from exploration following by exploitation activity.
As part of Geodesy, hydrography presented as Bathymetric Map play a significant role in the process of Oil and Gas Exploration. As we already know according to the history of
hydrography, the purpose of hydrography at the beginning mostly for navigation, but now days almost all activities in marine sectors need hydrography.

This workshop introduces the Development of a GIS Spatial Database and GIS Applications in Oil and Gas industries.

INSTRUCTOR:
Hardi
Koesalamwardi holds Master in Photogrammetric Engineering, Purdue
University, West Lafayette, Indiana, USA in 1965, and Post Graduate
Study in Photogrammteric Engineering,
Ohio State University, Ohio, USA in 1965. He retired as Lecturer,
Geodesy ITB in 1987. In 1976-1979, he is an Associate Professor in Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, University Technology Malaysia.

He
is a professional advisor for government of Indonesia as Co-Team Leader
- ADB Loan Project Bakosurtanal (1986-1990), Co-Team Leader -
Development of GIS for DKI Jakarta, OECF Loan Project (1993-1997),
Team Leader, Development of Land Information System for City of Semarang, UNDP Loan Project in 1999, Team Leader - Land Use Data Management,
OECF Loan Project, Ministry of Agriculture (2000-2003), Co-Team Leader -
Marine and Coastal Resources Management Project, ADB Loan Project,
Ministry of Marine and Fisheries (2003-2006), and Team Leader -
Geospatial Marine Resources Information System, ADB Loan Project, Bakosurtanal in 2007.

Currently
he is a Team Leader for various projects, Bakosurtanal, Topographic
Mapping for Riau, West and East Kalimantan and current 2011 projects are
Topographic Mapping for Papua (Merauke, Mappi and Sorong).
As
professional, he is a active member of Indonesian Surveyors Association
(ISI), as founder in 1972, Indonesian Society of Engineers (PII) and
American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing.
